The Asthma Foundation of WA would like to thank everybody who attended the inaugural Jailhouse Frock on Friday 28 th March 2008. The event, hosted by Verity James, was a great success and there has been plenty of talk about it since.
WA's very own well kept secret Hue Le kicked the night off with her outstanding new collection of evening gowns and cocktail wear. Guests were extremely lucky to see this collection so soon after its creation!
Recent graduates from a number of Perth Fashion schools were also among the designs that turned heads on the night. Many of these designers experimented with fabric, style, texture, colour and culture to produce very cutting edge couture!
Drag Queen Scarlett kept everyone on the edge of their seats and inspired the crowd to hire out the old classic musical, Cabaret….
New York designers Faviana and Jovani impressed the guests with their stunning lines and elegant gown collection – these were all provided by the wonderful team at Dream Dress Hire.
The night's hum of laughter and fashion talk turned to fierce bidding during the exclusive Jailhouse Auction when LJ Hooker Auctioneer, Darren Smith teamed up with MC, Verity James to offer exclusive fashion deals to the audience. Among them was a Hue Le gown that had been handmade and designed especially for one lucky lady at the event – this beautiful dress went for $700! Congratulations and thank you to all the winning bidders on the night. The auction raised over $3900 in much needed funds for the Foundation to support West Australians living with asthma.
The Fremantle Prison was quite a setting and the eerie ambience coupled by the fantastic wine from Wise Wine and delectable canapés from Robert Duval Foods made for a very remarkable experience.
If you missed out on the event this year, please stay tuned for future events, and for all of the fashionistas/ers and asthma foundation supporters who did join us – thank you!
