RAC Freeway Bike Hike for Asthma Wrap Up

  Posted: 21/03/12

The RAC Freeway Bike Hike for Asthma has this year celebrated record breaking success!

The Asthma Foundation WA would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone involved in the 2012 RAC Freeway Bike Hike for Asthma.

This year’s event was the biggest and best yet, with the largest number of participants and the most money raised in the event’s history!

On a fresh and sunny Sunday morning on the 18th March, 8,832 riders converged on the southbound lanes of the Mitchell and Kwinana Freeways and began their trek.

The format was different this year, with 3 distance options: 70kms from Mandurah, 30kms from Kwinana or Currambine and 10kms from Bullcreek or Stirling, all finishing in the Perth CBD at Langley Park.

This is the first year that the event has finished on Langley Park and the finish precinct offered a fantastic carnival-like atmosphere to greet the weary riders.

Thank you to everyone who donated and fundraised for the event. Because of your efforts, this year’s fundraising total currently stands at over $120,000, with time still for this figure to increase!

Funds raised for the Asthma Foundation WA through the RAC Freeway Bike Hike for Asthma will fund vital asthma research, education and training programs to help the 225,000 West Australians living with asthma.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s event. We hope that you enjoyed the ride in 2012 and we look forward to seeing you back next year to help us reach 10,000 riders in 2013!

The Asthma Foundation WA would like to make special mention to the people and companies who made this year’s event possible.

To our major sponsors the RAC, we sincerely thank you for your support.

To Channel 9, The Sunday Times, PerthNow and 96FM - thank you for the media coverage and support you provided, we are truly grateful.
