In the 2011 AFL home and away season, the Foundation ran a fundraising campaign in association with the Fremantle Football Club called, Help the Fremantle Dockers Tackle Asthma.
The Asthma Foundation WA was selected as an associate charity to the Fremantle Dockers in 2011. The “tackle asthma” theme is based on the Foundation recording every tackle the Dockers lay in every game in 2011.
Ten companies came together to suupport the Asthma Foundation WA by providing a donation of $2.00 for every tackle Fremantle lays in the 2011 AFL season. All up, Freo laid 1604 tackles, meaning the 10 businesses gladly donated a whopping $32,080!
Adam McPhee and Stephen Hill were ambassadors for the Asthma Foundation WA and have been very supportive and active in promoting the initiative.
The purpose behind this new partnership is to highlight the importance of Asthma but also to place emphasis on how the condition should not stop someone from living a healthy and active life-style.
Asthma is in the top five most common reasons for visiting a general practitioner, and through various courses and programs, the Asthma Foundation continues to offer invaluable assistance to those affected by the condition.
