The Asthma Foundation of WA was founded in 1964 when a group of dedicated people joined together with the aim of providing support for people impacted by asthma. Almost fifty years on, the Asthma Foundation of WA has established itself as the leading community agency providing quality asthma education, community service, and financial support for research into a cure.
The principles and objectives on which the Foundation began have remained at the forefront of the work we do. The challenge we face is is to remain relevant to those who we seek to help. This is in light of a rapidly changing social and corporate landscape, as well as the advances in the medical management of asthma.
As a member of Asthma Australia, we play an important role in the development of national strategies and implementation plans for the treatment of asthma. Collaboration with key national bodies has provided opportunities to liaise with government on important issues, and delivers services in a cohesive yet state-specific manner.
Over the years the Foundation has had to work hard to remain a preferred charitable organisation, as there are countless worthwhile charities in WA. A primary goal of the Foundation in 2010 and beyond is to ensure the Foundation meets the challenges we face and continue to provide worthwhile and effective services to those who are affected by asthma.
